Report Indicates High Consumer Satisfaction Rates Among Members of New York's Managed Long-term Care Plans

The New York State Department of Health announced that a customer satisfaction survey of enrollees in Medicaid managed long-term care plans (MLTCs) rate their plans highly. The survey by IPRO concludes that 85 percent of enrollees rated their managed long-term care plans (MLTCs) good or excellent. Ninety-one percent would recommend their plan to a friend and 84 percent have said the plan helped them and their families manage their illness better. Ratings of plan communication were also high with 85 percent indicating that the plan explains services clearly and 98 percent reporting that they were treated with politeness and respect.

State Department of Health Extends National Institute of Health Offer of Free Evaluation for LeRoy Students

New York State Health Commissioner Nirav R. Shah, M.D., M.P.H., today announced that the Department has secured an agreement with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) that the NIH will provide the Leroy High School students suffering from tic-like symptoms with a free, independent third-party evaluation of their cases.

State Health Officials Announce Removal of Contaminated Tissue Box Holders

State Health Commissioner Nirav R. Shah, M.D., M.P.H., announced today that state and local health officials have confirmed that twelve (12) metal box tissue holders containing low levels of cobalt-60 radioactive material were identified and removed from the shelves at four (4) Bed, Bath and Beyond stores in New York State.
